since March 28th, 2018

On March 22th, sixty participants from the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies (IHEDN) visited the TP400-D6 test bench in MTU facilities, in Ludwigsfelde. Organised by Jean Burnichon, Defence Procurement Attaché to the French Embassy in Germany, this visit was part of a two-week study mission.

Part of the National Session called “Armaments and Defence Economy” (AED), this training course brings together high-level French managers from the civil and military services or several business in France.  Focused on the issues in the field of armaments and defence economics, it aims to widen the knowledge of auditors in the framework of the national security strategy.

Arrived in the morning, Uwe Böhm, Program Director TP400 at MTU, gave the auditors an overview of MTU’s civil and military engine programs and MRO activities. Then, Christophe Bruneau, EPI’s President introduced Europrop International and the TP400-D6 engine, highlighting the expertise of the four partners ITP, MTU Aero Engines, Rolls-Royce and Safran Aircraft Engines in the program.

Then, MTU and Europrop International opened the doors of the TP400-D6 test bench where all the TP400-D6 are tested before certification. Last February, the Pass of Test celebrated the 10th anniversary of engines tested and delivered to Airbus in Sevilla. In fact, the very first engine for the Airbus A400M passed its first test in Ludwigsfelde’s test bench on January the 20th 2008.

The IHEDN visit highlighted the international cooperation between France and Germany in the aviation’s field with an emphasis on Defence economics and European consolidation.
